Cornerstone Baptist Church
began as a Bible study led by Pastor Steve Taitt in the fall
of 1988. The Bible study grew and regular services were held
in the Pastor's home and then in a motel conference room.
On June 10, 1990, Cornerstone Baptist Church was officially
organized as a church. At that time the congregation was meeting
in a rented building near the village of Goshen in Orange County, NY.
Soon after it was organized the church was able to acquire
about 4 acres of land on the edge of Middletown. In February
of 1996, the church called Pastor Michael Switzer as its pastor.
The church was soon "forced" into a building program
because it had outgrown the rented facility. Construction
on the present building was begun and lasted for nearly 4
years with the congregation doing most of the labor. The church
met in at least 10 different locations during that time, but
finally on Christmas Eve, 2001, Cornerstone began meeting
at its present location at 65
Schutt Road in Middletown.
Today there is a tremendous excitement at Cornerstone as the
Lord continues to build the church. Young families make up
most of the congregation, but there is a place for everyone
young and old. Our
mission is to reach our generation for Christ. We are
looking forward to seeing what God will do in our future.
